A pestemal or (pesh-te-mahl) is a traditional Turkish towel used in the Turkish baths. There are many kinds of pestamal, with different styles and colors in each local areas in Turkey. Our specially hand-loomed pestamal has a loose, double-weave which gives it some texture and is very soft.

The pestamal absorbs water as fast as a traditional towel, dries very quickly, takes up less space, is easy to carry and is therefore used as an alternative to the towel in bathrooms, pools, spas, beaches. It can also be used a throw for your couch or bed.  Using 17th century traditional weaving, our pestemals are handmade by master weavers in Bursa, Turkey.

The experience shopping with Sage & Sill was a good one ... the order I received was damaged in transit. The package itself was very securely wrapped though, so I'm not sure how the damage occurred.
