A zippered mattress encasement woven from organic cotton, with no coating, laminate or membrane. The weave is the barrier. Porous Measurement International measured its mean flow pore diameter at 4.71 microns. Dust mites measure roughly 200 to 300 microns and mite allergen particles roughly 10 to 40, so both are larger than the openings in the fabric. Read the pore size analysis.
It suits people who want dust mite protection without a plastic or membrane layer. Cotton lets air through, so it sleeps cooler than membrane encasements. It is not waterproof. For spill protection, put a waterproof pad on top of the encasement or choose one of our waterproof encasements.
What the fabric is
- 100% organic cotton, unbleached and untreated, woven to 233 thread count
- 4.71 micron mean flow pore (PMI)
- Heavy-gauge nylon zipper and double-stitched seams
- No softeners or optical brighteners, so it is ready to use without a first wash
About the organic sourcing
The cotton comes through a GOTS certified supply chain under Scope Certificate CU846673GOTS-2026-00087084, issued by Control Union Certifications B.V. to GOTS version 7.0 and valid to 26 August 2027. A Scope Certificate covers the supply chain. Bargoose does not hold its own GOTS licence, so the finished encasement is not sold as GOTS certified goods. Transaction Certificates for a specific order are available to specifiers on request.
Sizes and fit
Twin, Long Twin, Full, Queen, King and Cal King, in 9", 12" and 16" depths, plus 18" for Queen, King and Cal King. Measure your mattress height and pick the matching depth. The cover is cut oversized on purpose and shrinks to its fitted size after the first wash and dry. A slightly loose fit is correct; a tight cover makes the mattress feel stiff and strains the seams and zipper.
Care
Machine wash warm, up to 130°F. Tumble dry medium. Do not use chlorine bleach. Your mattress pad and fitted sheet sit on top of the encasement, so once or twice a year is enough.

Warranty and returns
Covered by the Bargoose Lifetime Limited Warranty. Items in the original sealed bag can be returned within 30 days of the invoice date with an RMA number. Washed bedding can be returned only if it is defective.

Should my mattress pad go over or under the encasement?
Over. Put the encasement directly on the mattress, then the pad and the fitted sheet.
Is it waterproof?
No. It is breathable cotton with no membrane.
Is the product GOTS certified?
The cotton is sourced through a GOTS certified supply chain. The finished encasement is not sold as GOTS certified goods, because Bargoose does not hold its own GOTS licence.
